FAQ

Industrial Security Cabinets FAQs

Get answers to common questions about our products.

What standards do your industrial safety cabinets comply with?

Our safety cabinets are engineered and certified to meet key international safety and fire protection standards, including:
OSHA 1910.106 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
NFPA 30 (National Fire Protection Association Code)
EN 14470-1 (European Standard for Fire Safety Storage Cabinets)
Each unit undergoes rigorous testing for structural integrity, spill containment, and thermal insulation.

Can I store acids and flammable liquids in the same cabinet?

No. Acids and flammables should never be stored together due to the risk of violent chemical reactions, corrosion, or toxic gas generation. Corrosive storage requires dedicated acid cabinets fitted with polyethylene or polypropylene liners to prevent metal degradation.

Are grounding lugs necessary for flammable liquid cabinets?

Yes. When dispensing or transferring flammable liquids inside or near a cabinet, static electricity can ignite vapors. Connecting a ground wire from the cabinet’s external grounding lug to a earth ground prevents static build-up.

What is the difference between dynamic fire-tested (EN 14470-1) and double-wall steel (FM/OSHA) cabinets?

Double-wall steel cabinets (OSHA/NFPA compliant): Constructed with 18-gauge double-walled steel with a 1.5-inch insulating air space. Designed to retard flame spread and keep internal temperatures safe for at least 10–15 minutes during an evacuation.
EN 14470-1 cabinets: Designed with fire-rated insulation panels, offering specified fire endurance periods (typically Type 30, 60, or 90 minutes) under severe furnace conditions.

What is the difference between manual-closing and self-closing doors?

Manual-Closing Doors: Open to a full 180 degrees and stay open until manually shut by operators.
Self-Closing Doors: Feature a built-in tension or hydraulic system that automatically pulls doors shut. In a fire event, a fusible link melts at 165°F (74°C), automatically releasing and sealing the cabinet doors to contain internal fumes and block external flames.

Can shelf load capacities and configurations be modified?

Yes. Standard heavy-duty shelves support up to 350 lbs, while reinforced shelf options support up to 600 lbs per shelf. You can also add heavy-duty pull-out drawers for small container organization or adjust shelf pitch in 3-inch increments.
